Our Origins
Hidalgo Imports was founded in 2006 by Antonio Hidalgo in Miami, Florida, with a vision of introducing exceptional wines from Spain to the United States and building lasting relationships between distinguished producers and the American market.
Antonio Hidalgo represents the eighth generation of a family deeply rooted in the winemaking tradition of Bodegas Hidalgo La Gitana in Spain. Founded in 1792, Bodegas Hidalgo La Gitana remains family-owned and operated today, preserving more than two centuries of winemaking heritage, knowledge, and tradition. Growing up surrounded by vineyards, cellars, and generations of winemaking experience gave Antonio a unique understanding of the wine industry from an early age. His lifelong involvement in wine has also allowed him to witness firsthand the remarkable transformation and evolution of Spanish wines over the past three decades.
With this heritage as his foundation, Antonio had long envisioned creating a company that would bring the quality, diversity, and character of wines from his native Spain to consumers in the United States. That vision ultimately became Hidalgo Imports.
Beyond Spanish wines
Growth & Expansion
As the company grew and the needs of its customers evolved, Hidalgo Imports expanded beyond its original focus on Spanish wines. Responding to an increasing demand for wines from other important wine-producing regions around the world, the company gradually broadened its portfolio to include carefully selected producers from Italy, France, Chile, Argentina, United States, Peru, Australia, New Zealand, and other regions.
Today, Hidalgo Imports offers a diverse international portfolio while maintaining the personalized approach and attention to quality upon which the company was founded. In addition to its South Florida operations, Hidalgo Imports established a warehouse in Tampa, Florida, allowing the company to provide stronger and more efficient service to customers throughout Central and Northern Florida.
Antonio personally evaluates and chooses the wines added to the portfolio, focusing not only on quality and value but also on the people and stories behind each bottle, looking for producers who take pride in their vineyards, their history, and the wines that represent both established traditions and the evolving character of today's global wine industry.
The continued growth and success of Hidalgo Imports are also closely connected to the dedication of its sales, administrative, warehouse, and logistics teams. Providing dependable service, knowledgeable support, and personal attention to customers has remained a central part of the company's philosophy since its founding.
