Rosso di Montalcino
Tasting Notes:
A blend of blackberry and vanilla, with a light chocolate and coffee edge. Medium-bodied, with fine tannins and a medium finish

Rosso di Montalcino is found in the same defined area as its bigger brother, the Brunello di Montalcino DOCG. Both are situated in the heart of Tuscany, in central Italy. The soil composition is mixed marl with excellent drainage. Has an average altitude of 250 meters above sea level. The density of vines per hectare is 5.000. Bilateral “cordone” growth system. During the harvest selected grapes are picked by hand and placed in small crates with holes for ventilation. They are unloaded directly into the de-stemmer and fall gently into the vats thanks to the cellar, exploiting the force of gravity.

Vinification process:
Intense extraction in contact with the marcs with frequent pump-overs during the initial fermentation. Great attention is paid to temperature control and the temperature never exceeds 33°C (92°F) and is allowed to descend gradually before the separation of the wine and the marcs.
